what amp do you have?
what guitar do you have?

1. All sorts, Metal is predominant.
2. Don't have one yet

And to explain, i took it to GC and they plugged it and anf played it and told me my bridge pickup was defective.

In that case, why are you worrying about whether your pickups work or not?

if you've got $100 for only one pickup and are in the states, you have a lot of choices, you don't necessarily have to cheap out. Check your wiring first, though, it's likely it's the problem and not the pickup.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

Pickups do not just break or become defective unless you break a winding which is almost impossible to do unless you actually unwrap the tape and break the wire. I can almost assure you that it has to do a bad switch.

Does guitar center know you don't have an amplifier?

They could be lieing to you because they know you wouldn't have a clue and they sell pickups.

Welcome to economics.

Most of the "techs" at guitar center have no idea of what they are doing. As said its usually gonna be a switch vs a bad pickup. They dont just go bad without help of some kind.

Very true. I do know someone who works at my local GC that just does basic things for people for free. I remember being in there and they are like "How much do you charge to change strings" and he just tells them that he can string it up for them for free. Its a nice plan to get people to come back and get help from you. If I worked at a GC though I probably wouldn't feel too comfortable doing anything more than a minor truss rod adjustment though. I barely feel safe doing my own truss rod x_X

There's nothing wrong with your pickup, and there's no point changing them if you don't even have an amp yet.

You have dodgy wiring or a dirty selector switch.

Seeing as how pickups are, generally, only useful when used with amps, you should probably think about buying one before you worry about the pickups.

However, +1 on the guitar, I have an S-1 Elite as well

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
