^. I'm using a Peavey Vypyr 30W. What should be used to achieve a precise and unflabby sounding rock sound? EQ, effects settings? The sound I guess I'd say I'm going for would maybe be like Rise Against or newer Green Day.

Musically, old green day is. But he's referring to tone.
You don't want to lot of bass, make sure you have medium gain, not really high gain. It depends on the guitar too.

Turn down the bass and turn up the treble and midrange. And gain. Is there a JCM type model on there?
