Hey there. First of all, I know this shouldn't go in The Pit, but there is no Drum forum, so where else?

Anyway, I would like to start playing drums, but my parents don't want me to have an acoustic drum kit because it's too loud, and I agree with them... So how much is a basic electronic drum kit (with snare, toms, hi-hat and cymbal)?

But Acoustic drums are so much better...tell your parent's to go f*ck themselves.

That's the best advice you'll get here.

Acoustics are way less, plus there are ways of dampening the sound. Just get a kit and some of those plastic things you put on the skins to quiet them, and stick a pillow in the bass drum.

For good sounding acoustic drums you can get them from $450 and up, for electronic drums that aren't horrible you need to spend at the very least $1000.
Roland V-Drums are a no-no.
