I told my dad to buy me some strings from the local music store one day and didn't even look at the gauge until today, their 11 gauge, and (correct me if i'm wrong) i believe that guitars usually are built with 9 gauge strings. Do I need to do any adjustments? If so, what, and is my guitar damaged in away from no adjustments made with a different gauge string?

Thanks for help.

11s will probably make it a bit harder to bend etc.

you will only need to make adjustments if the neck starts to bend

but you might want to lower the action a little.. also, what tuning do you play in mostly? if you downtune they should be fine.

and change the tuning of your guitar as well, try playing in C standard with 11's (im guessing you play in E standard, or around that)

Well i've been playing with 11 gauge for so long now that it seems easy to bend for me. On tuning, I actually play Standard and Eb quite evenly. One week I feel like playing Van Halen or GNR then the next week just some standard tuning stuff.
