So, I need a new amp. Soon.
I mostly play metal and thrash, and want a tube amp.
I'll be using it for gigs, and my budget is around £250 - 300.

Found a Marshall 8100 head + 8412 cab for £260, is that a good deal?
Or do you have other suggestions?

I can't think of any tube amps for that price.

Well, not with a cab anyway.

Laney's LC range, I hear they are a bit more modern sounding than my VC. A used tiny terror, maybe even a used Randall, I hear some of their tube amps are good for metal. Epiphone does quite a cheap tube amp that's in your price range called the So Cal are something, that might be worth checking out. Apart from that Bugera's and Blackstar's are worth looking at.

The 8100 is NOT a modeling amp.
and its NOT a tube amp.

the 8100 is a Hybrid, and its GREAT for Trash.
Chuck Schuldiner of Death uses them

You won't get brootalz tubes for that much.

Look at Bugera combo's

Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ SD Alnico Pro II's
Fender Aerodyne Telecaster & Stratocaster
Marshall JCM 800 4104 combo

Okay, so a Blackheart Little Giant with some kind of cab won't do?
It's just for practising and gigging, so I'll probably be able to mic it or something.
If you know of a nice combo though, I'm more interested in that.

You would need an overdrive pedal for the LG to do your genre. I still think it would be able to handle it though.

Great, I've got an OD pedal.

But will It be loud enough?
