what does look better?

A black Fender Strat with a black pickguard with rosewood or maple fretboard?

And with (pickups, knobs...) white or black?

I even tried dressing up as a fly myself, and throwing myself out of the window in the hope that they will follow me. But to no avail.

Maple neck, black knobs/pickups just so you're not a complete Gilmour ripoff :P

playing by yourself is like masturbating, sure it feels great, but it's nothing compared to the real deal.

If you want the look and feel of good ol David Gilmour go with the maple. I think Rosewood feels better more often than not on the fretboard but that's my taste. I think the maple with the black on black is awesome looking.

Rosewood. Black/black deserves a dark board.

For looks, maple. For playability, rosewood. Is ebony an option at all? That would be my pick.

Awww yeah!

Someone sent me a John Frusciante video and it looked like his strat had an ebony fretboard. But someone said it's just very dark rosewood.

But I began thinking what that would be like.... It would balance out the maple/alder nicely, amirite? Alder is a bit on the bright side, maple is very bright, ebony is warm. Perfect!

I would definatly say Ebony, but if thats not an option, then definatly Rosewood with white pup covers and knobs :P

Personally I'd pick maple, but it all comes down to personal preference and what you'd love to see every time you play.

No, actually, you're wrong. Ebony is a very bright wood.

Go with maple. The contrast you'll have between the body and the neck is great. But it all depends on what YOU prefer to see. Go with ebony if you want a really dark look, but not rosewood.

I'm a giant sucker for a maple fretboard. So maple, with black knobs, even though it's totally a gilmour rip. That said, gilmour is god.

I think I prefer maple because with rosewood... (dark body - dark neck - whitish headstock)
I don't like that.
