I have a Crate V33 and a 120 w solid state crate. I play mostly hard rock and metal but i like a nice clean tone for funk and ska. Should i keep or sell both and get something else? If so any suggestions?

The SS. With a drive pedal, a speaker change maybe, and the right pickups, you should be able to get some good drive out of it. And the clean tone is great, so no problems there.

Probably $300 for the V33, maybe another $150-200 for the yet to be named 120 ss amp.

Do you gig?

It's a Crate GTD-120 212 Combo. Any ideas as to a replacement if I sold both? I am planning on starting to do small shows locally.

B52 AT combo's are $370 new if you can find one.

Valveking 112 combo (not the Royal 8) has a nice clean channel and decent drive channel. Find one used and put a better speaker in it.

Not sure exactly where you are in MS, but Memphis is not that far. There is a Classic 30 on there, as well as a Mesa Rectoverb for $900 if you can throw some cash at this.

This looks interesting also.

What kind of Metal?

Do you play guitar and bass?

Are B52's nice? I'm in central MS and the metal is stuff like avenged sevenfold, atreyu, trivium, all that remains.

B52's sound decent for their price but have some quality issues. Never played one. Bulletrocks522 has a great demo of one on youtube.

Classic 30 won't work for the metal you play.

Valveking will but will need an OD pedal, possibly and EQ pedal and definitely a new speaker. Used gear will be your best bet.

What will be your total budget assuming you can get about $400 or so for current amps?

^probably not for the metal you play....see if you can play the Flextone and B52 - and or see if those sellers would be willing to ship to you, I bet they would.

Keep in mind that B52 AT100 is only the head and you won't find a decent cab for under $200 (usually). The AT-60 combo would be plenty loud and versatile for you. Look up some youtubes on that amp. See anyone still has them new. $370 for a new AT-60 is a good deal.

$299 for a Flextone III is a good deal too.
