hi guys a while a go i started on a pine V build well long story short that V body is now kindling but I found this wood lying around me thinks in Tasmanian oak but can you guys help me identify it and if it is Tasy oak is that good for guitar

Thats not tas oak. Tas oak is more open grained and lighter. Tas oak is good for guitars though

UPDATE: well as you can see i did a rough cut of the body its a shape I think is halfway between a mockingbird and an explorer i smoothed out the body blank a bit and it seems pretty usable with a bit more work so what do you guys think

oh yea but they only go down a couple of mm's sun damage guess fixable...

but the cracks... if there too deep that could be bad... >.<

hahaha yeah i was pretty happy with the shape and i think i will be able to get rid of the cracks there not that deep

i bought some parts for the build: a 500k dimarzio pot
a black chrome knob
a strat style jack plate
a dimarzio input jack
a dimebucker

its going to be a 1 volume 1 pickup guitar and if i cant get the cracks out of the body im just going to buy a 1 piece mahogany or alder body and do same shape and im thinking bright orange for paint job right now all i need is some wire and a neck
