I want to make some 8 bit versions of songs and cant really find a whole lot of MIDI's on the web so how do I make them? I don't mean original songs, I mean like alkaline trio and stuff.
Listen to CKY.

to make MIDI type sounding songs you need to use a MIDI controller and a VSTi (Virtual Studio Technology Instrument)....which is basically like those expensive hardware synths but all in softwaer and cheaper.

To work with MIDI you dont need much. Just the following
A VSTi
A Computer to run that
A sequencer (aka DAW such as Cakewalk Sonar or Reaper)
A MIDI controller (keyboard with MIDI out to control the software)
and finally...skill to work it all.

This is probably best in the R&R forum...

Everything you play back in powertab is midi. Both guitar pro and powertab can export to midi files.
