for drop D, I use medium tops, heavy bottoms, cause my drop D guitar is a hard tail. But for standard, I like to use 9's, cause my standard guitar is a floyd. If you have a hardtail, its easy to try out different gauges, but dont do it with a floyd.

Im going to be using my new Jackson dominion, so its going to be a hard tail, i was thinking of using 11-50 DR tite-fit, or are those guages a little to heavy?
