Hi there bass forum.

I have been playing bass for 3 years and I have gotten quite good at normal fingerstyle playing. I can play songs like Genghis Khan by Iron Maiden, Battery by Metallica and Around The World by Red Hot Chili Peppers quite flawlessly.

But I'm almost a complete newbie when it comes to playing slap bass, I know how you're supposed to do the basic things but except from that I'm clueless.

Could anyone give me few tips on what to practice?

Learn the RHCP Mother's Milk album.

Buy Level 42 Live album, learn that.

After you do it "flawlessly" your good to go...

higher ground seems like the obvious choice

yup. if you cant do that one, you need practice.

or you could be a minority bass player and learn the larry graham (vic wooten) style
OR you could be a good bassist and do them both

when Moses brought down the plagues upon Egypt one of them involved Behringer amps

Dont be so humble, your not that great....

Higher Ground and Can't Stop by RHCP are almost everyone's choice for a beginner's slap song
