Does this thing only come in one color?

The only one I can find is the See-Through Red one. All the other ones are not FR-II's. Are there going to be more color choices in the future or not?

On the ESP site there is only one color.

Why not buy an older Model?

i dont want to have to change the pickups to EMG 81/85 when the new one already has it.

also, a mahogany body is much better than an alder body for what i play

its not THAT big of a deal, i was just wondering if there was any other options i had

Or just buy an older model and change the Pickups, it's simple.
Did you ever tried both, alder and mahogany?

You might aswell: look of a guitar is a big deal. And if you can afford a FR-ii, it's hardly out of your budget to get it done.

And what genres do you play that make alder not as good?

Matter of opinion. Bodom use alder for example. You need to try diff woods out in person, to see what YOU prefer

Da'am, you're right. Drumcityguitarland HAD them, but they're gone now. Bmusic ship them from AUS to US I think...

But you can't really try them that way

The FR II comes in different colors with the SD pups... I think the EMG variant only comes in red....so the TS'ers question is a valid one.

The LTD version also only comes in red....so red is what you're going to have to get.

To be honest though, the red is a vibrant, sick color for that guitar, so that isn't a bad thing. I've played horizons, I really enjoy em.

The one's with the SD's are the older versions

And the LTD horizon's dont just come in red. The MH401QM comes in red and blue, for example

They still sell the one's with the SDs, and the LTDs in different colors don't have the EMG pickups stock.

My bad- the LTD variant comes in either blue or red, but if you're spending that kind of money, you'd want to buy an ESP anyway, which only comes in the red:

Heh seems the US market misses out big time once again. If you want more colours then go older models but if you don't mind then new model is still good.
#25
I almost got one of these then I ordered a Carvin at the last minute, which turned out to be the same price but with custom features/color. You can pick the wood and whatever, including tung oil finish on the back of the neck for real smoothness. Only downsides are they won't put in aftermarket pickups like EMGs and it's like a one or two month wait to get it.

But the Horizon is a really sick guitar anyways.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

We know. That's why we've been suggesting changing the pickups on the old models, or getting a re-finish on the newer one if he wanted a dif colour: both of which are do able, and both of which will be in his budget if he has money for the ESP.
