I want to try to get to my roots (mostly Blues and Jazz...what else?) because I think it will broaden my music horizon and improve my playing. What are some bands I could listen to? I usually listen to Aerosmith, The Who, The Stones, Ramones, Ac/dc, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. So I figured the best for me would be blues or early early rock like Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, etc.

What are some artists I should listen to or techniques I should learn (double-stops, common chord progressions, solo/improv techniques, scales, chords) in order to improve my inner musician.

First, as a general rule, you really need to wait more than two hours before bumping your thread. Unfortunately, forums are not an on-demand service. Either the forum is slow or people do not know the answers to your questions.

For a nice list of people to listen to and learn from, head over to the (surprise!) Jazz & Blues forum in Bands & Artists. There are multiple stickies with recommendations.

So what? I wasted like 5 minutes watching DaddyTwoFoot's avatar.
