Amp?
Budget?
Can you go Used?
what gear do you have?
what pedals do you need? (OD, EQ, Delay etc.)

delay, noise gate, maybe a wah or something.
i used to be a mod, then i took an arrow in the knee.
#5
wah and noise gate absolutely,

i would also go for an EQ, possibly a tuner? delay as well.

after that, it all depends on what kind of stuff you want to get into,
#6
amps is bandit 112 peavey 100 watt money inst really an option (lol) jackson kvx10
and i need distortion but thats were i get lost lol
#7
In my own opinion, when you're talking about more traditional metal genres (sub-genres like Doom Metal and Sludge Metal are a totally different story), less is more. A good distortion is key and a wah is very useful, but that seems sufficient. Maybe a Whammy, but only if it's just for the Detune.
#8
why specificaly 6 pedals?
but I'd suggest an equaliser (great for getting better tones, quick), a wah (kinda matter of opinion but I love mine) and maybe a compressor sustainer (seriously underrated pedals, I use mine for more bite in riffs and screaming leads)
#9
if you have a seemily unlimited budget why not get a good alltube metal amp with some grinding distortion already onboard and eliminate the need for drives?

not 'dissing your amp, but i didnt like the peavey bandit.

typically (not all the time) metal guitarists do not rely on pedal boards, guitar with a solid tube amp and they're good to go

having said that, I play metal and use an array of pedals

Wah --> OD --> Dist --> Phaser --> Chorus --> Delay --> Tuner

Epi Les Paul Std w/Duncans
ESP LTD EX260
Cry Baby From Hell
Marshall JH-1
EHX Metal Muff
MXR EVH Phase 90

Metal Muff is great - I like mine, but you cannot beat the right tube amp & guitar combination.

Three channel Recto? Definitely.

Two-channel? Debatable.

I'd rather have a SLO or Triamp than either, though.

Plain & simple: GET A BETTER AMP !
Since you play metal I will recommend the Peavey 6505 (the 112 combo) - $600
Loud enough & portable.

Pedals you do need however: Noise suppressor, Delay, EQ & Tuner. These are the only pedals you need to gig with. (Only Jimi used 99999999999999 pedals).

To the guy who recommended this
Mesa/boogie triple rectifier = Horrible. The reason is it's way too loud (150 watts) so you'll never be able to cook the valves for a yummy sound and also the re-sell value for high wattage amps (150 watt etc.) is significantly worse than lower wattage amps (10-100 watts)

Okay, I'm done ranting. =)
#24
if i could afford a triple recto id be able to get me a THD hotplate so i could cook the valves for a yummy sound

but either way, i admit its not practical or recommendable. plus those things weigh a TON and so do the cabs.

if you're on a smaller budget, i.e., less than what a mesa costs :P: check the peavey 5150. a better amp will do more justice than pedals through a bandit.

i think they good but i also havent been introduced to whole lotta pedals either...mostly due to lack of money and lack of time played (ive been playing since february but im still goood)
#32
Crybaby From Hell, Sansamp GT2, TC Electronic Nova Repeater, MXR 10 Band EQ,?
Board:
Pitchblack - Fulltone Octafuzz - Hardwire OD - Blakemore Effects Deus Ex Machina - MXR Micro Chorus - Diamond Memory Lane Jr - EHX SMMH - Neunaber Wet
#33
If I had to set up a pedal board for typical metal, I'd probably get a Maxon OD808 first, then an iSP Decimator, then an EQ of some kind like a Fish 'n Chips, then just a regular Crybaby Classic Wah, and finally a DD-7 for tap tempo.

As for modulation, I'd do it last and just get a Chorus and maybe a Phaser.

This guy doesn't need a new amp. If he has an unlimited budget, then get a new amp. But I think it's a good enough amp to expand on.

The Bandit takes a lot of tweaking, and it needs to be cranked at a high volume to sound good. Most people who say the Bandit sucks never tried it at a higher volume. A noise gate, EQ Pedal, and a speaker swap is also a must with the Bandit.

I played many other amps, so I'm not tone deaf, and it can sound good if you know what you are doing. I don't own the Bandit, but I've played it for many hours at local shops.

So, really in conclusion, I'd get a noise gate, a tuner pedal, and a EQ Pedal.

Hes saying the Uberschall is better than the 3 channel Recto for sure, but perhaps not the 2 channel one.

but seriously, all you need on a metal pedalboard is :-

distortions
delay
wah
EQ
noisegate

(and maybe flange)
