this is the first part of the tab for the solo to highway to hell - ac/dc.

I don't get what the 7^(9) means. I thought at first it was a bend to make the note sound like 9, but then further down the solo it has 5^(4). I'm pretty new to guitar, but I know you can't bend a note to make it sound lower. Can someone please help.

Yes, I realize this is a very basic question.

those are def bends, the only thing I could think for the 5^(4) would be that its a Prebend that you release to 4. But that doesn't make too much since that they would write a prebend-release like that when they write it (6)^4 later on.

But ^ appears to definately mean bend in this case.
