So I need some help.

AFI is one of my favorite bands ever and they are playing a show with Gallows near my area soon. I've never seen them and would love to, but I don't want to spend the money on a ticket if they are going to play all new songs.

I was wondering if anyone has seeing/is seeing them on their current tour, could tell me what the setlist is like. Anyone who could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

I haven't seen them, but what bands generally do is they'll play a few new songs and a few old songs.

Not sure if this is the right thread to be posting in though
They made me do push ups in drag

I mean like in the bands forum, there's probably one called the only AFI thread or something like that, it'll probably be full of afi fans

I saw them at Reading a couple of weeks ago. Far from a headline set, so I imagine a full 75-90 minutes would probably feature a few more old tracks, but they played:

Girl's Not Grey
The Leaving Song Pt. II
Summer Shudder
Kill Caustic
Days Of The Phoenix
Dancing Through Sunday
Silver And Cold
A Single Second
Love Like Winter
Medicate
Love Is A Many Splendored Thing
Miss Murder

i would be happy if they just played Black Sails or the Art of Drowning all the way through. Love some of the old jams from Very Proud of Ya to. Black Sails in the Sunset is one of my favorite albums ever by any band.

If they no longer play File 13 this band is dead to me.

i'm not going to pay $40 to see them play 2 songs.

I could probably name atleast 20 songs i would rather see them play then any of the ones listed

I saw them on one of their Decemberunderground shows and they were amazing live. And that show was heavy on the DU stuff.

And Gallows sucks

yeah i just can't really get into to anything after The Art of Drowning. Sing the Sorrow was okay, then Decemberunderground was just awful, sell out album.

When's that? I'll plan on being there.

I'd still go see them mate, they put on a really great show, and so do Gallows. The differences in their music aren't quite as blatant live, everything goes together well; even songs I don't like much on record were great.

Yeah they play all new songs. Sucks considering how much better their old stuff was. It was actually good. A Fire Inside era AFI still rules.

I'm also going to see these guys with Gallows...I can't wait. Hopefully the Gallows will inspire them to play more hardcore punk again...

I don't care what anyone says, Gallows are a great band.

Yep.
It's really good to see a band like them breaking into mainstream etc.
They deserve the recognition they get.

I would take Mother of Mercy over AFI any day for the past 5 years. Decemberunderground is almost unforgivable. And seriously, how does someone like this:

Digging the Judge shirt.

I'm not gonna lie, I love every album this band has done. I'm into the new one as well. But damn if Shut Your Mouth.. and Very Proud aren't great hardcore records. Answer That.. as well.

i was there too. never saw them before so it was great to hear some of the tunes that i used to listen to when i was younger, but yeah, for every good song there was two new ones so the set itself was a little weird. after a single second i didnt know any aside from the obvious, we left as soon as we heard that fucking bassline kick in.

do you see the irony in your last post at all?
You started this thread, even though there's an ONLY AFI thread in the punk forum
I'm guessing your ego and sense of entitlement caused you to create this thread, as you probably feel like you're superior to other AFI fans.
Yes, at one point, they were core, but a thread in the core forum is a moot point

i guess thats why everyone responded to it and no mod locked it. your the only one complaining dude. just cause you can't think of anything to say towards my last post doesn't entitle you to start other pointless arguments. your seriously just talking to talk now. and your trolling.

i'll also bet you that more than 50% of the people that post in the hardcore forum do not post in the punk forum. I don't think I have been in the punk forum more than once or twice. So what really is the problem with having a thread here? you said it yourself that they were at one point a core band.
