I just found out today that I'm supposed to have a stage performance tomorrow. I'm supposed to play a short tune alone on stage. I will be evaluated and given a gade.

I need something that is easy to learn, and is electric guitar only. If I had an acoustic, I'd play some Don Ross, but the one I borrowed has been delivered back.

I've got Big Sur Moon by Buckethead, and The Echo Song by Paul Gilbert which I have learned before. The Echo Song will take a long time to relearn though, so scratch that.

Any other suggestions than Big Sur Moon?

UPDATE: I played Big Sur Moon.

Was half joking. You'd probably be best off doing something like the Echo Song, as you said.

You also could play Always with Me, Always with You.

Why must it be an electric solo piece? They tend to suck.

im taking bets on how long it takes for "i cum blood" to pop up. that said, i think you should play "title and registration" by death cab for cutie. it sounds good and is a pretty easy song to learn on short notice.
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling.

Liberty by Steve Vai. Chances are if you can play buckethead, you'll have this.

Unless you meant "No Backing Track," in which case liberty is okay but it's a lot better with its harmony backing track. In fact, it's actually quite good without its backing track.

Uh...

Top of the World is fantastic, in my opinion. It originally had lyrics, but it sounds great without them anyway. That intro part isn't part of the song, but once you get the basic technique of it down, you could throw it in if you wanted.

Eruption could work. It's overplayed but it's really easy to improvise with it.

It sounds difficult but it's actually really easy to learn, I learnt most of it in half an hour, and you can just improvise a solo.

anything by soul coughing (best 90's band) or modest mouse. Can learn those in 5min flat.

Technical Difficulties!!

Seriously now, just play something you can put feeling in, you can put your heart in, that's always a good thing to do (of course not if it's too simple, but seeing your other songs, that won't be a problem)

I did Vai's FTLOG a few times with the backing track, I improvise a lot and nobody knows because most have never heard it. Eruption if you have no backing track seems to impress the majority of listeners.

If you play buckethead good I would do that though.

Maybe Big Sur Moon is my best bet?

It's short, it's guitar only (classical guitar, but works with electric), I've played it before, and it has a lot of feel to it.

In one day? Unless you are amazing he can't learn the whole song of any Vai, Satch or that.

I would just play something simple...
Epiphone Les Paul (Modded with 2 passive pickups and an EMG81)
Yamaha RG guitar w/ Floyd Rose
Rogue Acoustic

BlackHeart BH5 Tube Amp

Danelectro Metal. Digitech Bad Monkey, Digitech CF-7, Crybaby Wah, Danelectro EQ.

Scuttlebuttlin' - Stevie Ray Vaughan is a fairly easy, yet impressing tune.

That works soo much better with a band though.

Both feel and technique come up in that song

It requires a human capo, and it's insane.

That's not really easy to learn.
But just play a song you already know , learning a new one and be able to play it comfortable in front of an audience in one day is quite hard.

Just out of interest, what Don Ross song would you have played?

First Ride. I know it already, although there are a few parts that need some extra work. Work I could've gotten done by now, if I had an acoustic.
