BOSS are epic fail compared to many other pedals in the price range.

you could get a Ibanez TS-9 or maybe a used Fulltone OCD.

Epiphone Hummingbird
Epiphone Futura Custom Prophecy (Twin EMG)
Vox Valvetronix VT20+
Vox Wah
Boss MD-2
Danelectro Cool Cat Drive
Boss EQ

Try something from Ibanez. Here is a whole list of good Ibanez pedals, I've heard good things about the tube king and ts9

You'll find whisky very different, but try it and you'll grow into it, soon you and whisky are one, but still two, lovers dancing across a frozen lake under moonlight, wrapped in honey and warmth.

imo the Ibanez TS9DX is the best od pedal out there, especially for the money

Played one before. Not worth the cost, IMO.

I liked my Bad Monkey better, but I also don't or need a bajillion flavors of overdrive, either.

...well... not really. I mean. You could go out and buy a pedal that is so badly made and will fail on you and that could have been avoided by listening to people. Plus, there is a general consensus on what sounds good because people who might be more experienced with using effects pedals have tried out a few and have discovered that while you might try a Boss and like it there is something out there that you will probably like more that is better value for money.

just sayin..

I love my TS-9. Was worth every penny to me. Yea there are better, but cost wise it was well worth it.

MI Audio pedal for sure.
Hand built and made in australia, so incredible value for money compared to anything else.

If you want a bluesy kinda overdrive go the Blues Pro
If you want marshall type distortion get the Crunch Box

They sell them at Billy Hyde and are all within your price range

http://www.mieffects.com/

Ive got the Blues Pro, and have my eye on the Boost and Buff. Easily best value for money pedal in australia

Or in Final Fantasy terms, think of him as always casting Reflect on himself. The only way to hurt him is to cast Reflect on yourself and bounce Firaga off yourself.

What a load of rubbish. Just punch him in the ****ing shins.

Look at Hardwire pedals. They are awesome.

Unless you have an ear for tone, and really pay attention, it's a good idea to take other people's advice. I ended up with a Grunge pedal I don't like now that I've figured out it doesn't sound too good, since I didn't take a whole lot of time and didn't really know if it sounded good or not.

What amp do you have?

Edit- if it's the microcube, I strongly suggest getting a new amp first. The microcube doesn't take pedals that well.

-Gibson LP VM
-Silvertone Kentucky Blue
-MXR CC Delay
-Ibanez TS-9
-Egnater Rebel 20
-Avatar 1x12

My rig is simple
Haha. UG's Chuck just said chuck. haha
You're not truly playing guitar unless you know theory.

i don't know what the conversion rate is down under...
a few ODs that are BA in my opinion are the T-Rex MAB OD (and the mudhoney is awesome, but i seem to be a minority in thinking so), radial tonebone classic (some prefer the "british" model), satchurator, fulltone OCD, pretty much any of the mods from Keeley, maxon "true tube", 808, ts9dx, Xotic makes some cool ****.

Find one you like, then import from the USA. I found a $500AUD delay pedal that I've bought for $250AUD including postage.
