Well, I've been trying to learn theory for awhile now and I can't understand it well so I've decided to take lessons. Now, I was wondering, what would be the basics that every guitar should know? The lessons are kinda expensive so the only thing I wanna know is the basic theory and how to play voodoo child if I have extra time.

So what would I ask for for just basic theory?
And what would that include usually?
I want to know how to under stand scales, reading music, and be able to write my own songs. Badically what I mean is will it cover all thats in the crusades lesson here on UG?

Also, I know everyone probably learns on their own different time but does anyone know maybe how many hours it could take?

Sorry if I didn't make abunch of sense typing this. It's easier to think what I mean they type down lol.

You just want to learn music theory. Simple as that. There is no "guitar-specific" theory; it's not the only instrument in the world.
