James Malone on practicing:

"When I have a chance to practice, I use the same routine I have used for years. It includes all the scales/modes for every key cycling through the circle of fifths, arpeggios and their inversions for every key as well. If I have time to practice I am usually writing these days."

Considering there are seemingly endless scales/arpeggios, do you think he means the more common ones such as the 7 modes, major + minor pentatonic, the blues scale, and major, minor, augmented, diminshed, major+minor 7th, dominant + diminished 7th, and minor 7flat5 arpeggios?

Also, would this be an effective practicing session, if you alternate picked the scales, economy picked the scales, sweep + alternate pick arpeggios, use legato only for scales etc?
