I'm looking for some songs with cool riffs played with strings or an orchestra of sorts.

Some examples are : Welcome Home - Coheed & Cambria
Mein Hertz Brent - Rammstein
Down & Out - Tantric

I found this today and was freaked out by the string part in the bridge, wasn't expecting it at all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yFCwDU3bw4

other than that, I don't really care for them much but I like what Dimmu Borgir do with horn parts, trumpets are evil

Metallica's S&M album.

This. Almost every song on there is better than its studio counterpart.
Chinese Democracy is a great album, people need to get over Slash.

Proud fan of Pop, Rap, Rock, and Metal.

A vast amount of Black/Progressive/Melodic Death Metal bands have arrangements for strings in their music. Go and ask in the Metal forum's recommendaion thread, you'll get tons of replies.

TSO doesn't just do Christmas music, and their live show is one of the most mid-blowing things imaginable.

Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir don't actually use an orchestra, but they sound like they do and are badass.
Like punk the way it used to be? Deranged Youth Its like what Warped Tour should be!

Want to hear something mind-blowing? Pit O' Bodies Its like an amateur hypnotist plus the Spanish Inquisition!

Gotta say Follow the Tears by Heaven and Hell. Not too keen on most of their stuff, but that is an awesome part where the main riff kicks in.
