The main difference is the materials used. Generaly licensed floyds are not as good as originals but some are even better than a "real" floyd. Some also have different designs.

Depends on which licensed floyd rose you get. Jackson's mid-range (DK2, RR3, etc.) LFRs are pretty darn good. The cheap, $20 LFR's, however, are not.

Then there are the Ibanez Edge trems which are also licensed.

There are a lot of different variations of the LFR so you have to be more specific.

Has anyone put together a "top ten" of the licensed FRs? Including the FR Special, Jackson's JT580 and the FR 1000?

Some sort of listing of which LFR's are good and which aren't would probably be useful, but I doubt many people have enough experience with all of them for anyone to give a decent overview.

FR-1000's, Specials, Schaller and Gotoh FR's all are all just as good as/better than OFR's to my hands, but with the Special and the Gotoh LFR in particular, I know there would be a lot of people who would say they can feel the difference (Special) or don't like the changes the Gotoh has.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

yeah, a list would be handy. I think i had a list in the sticky somewhere, but it's out of date by now (i did it long before these new specials etc. came out), and also it's kind of hidden in the middle of reams of text anyway.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
