Hi - I have got several requests for bangin' Electronic tunes - So I decided to make this thread, a place where everyone can share their favourite electronic songs and artists.

Try and post an appropriate link next to the song or artist you post.

I hope this thread helps you new Electronic music Listeners out

The initial take on techno arose from the melding of Euro centric synthesizer-based music with various African American styles such as Chicago house, funk, electro, and electric jazz.

A few different types of Electronic music include :

House
Deep house
Breakbeats
Electronic
Trance
Progressive
Hard trance
Tribal
Drum-n-Bass
Jungle
Hardstyle
Goa
Psy
Big beat
Experimental
Minimal tech
Industrial tech

My favouritegenre of Electronic music is Dubstep - A few of my favourite Dubstep artists would be :

Stenchman - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDdZTLWGFr0&feature=related

Eskmo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NejImy4Rkk0

Antiserum - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnLe7m3ug-4&feature=PlayList&p=ECE1F269CAAC39DF&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=19

MRKI (minimal influence but still largely dubstep)

Caspa - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qowgtBr_XEo

Vex'd - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5jebTBYA6M

Benga - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4D-hCO8Y2k

Rusko - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUFbOh3Vzjo

Minimal (Tech) :

Heartthrob - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQEUmOsHmxQ

SEPH - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBisWc3psu8

DYNO (Couldn't find any youtube videos of his - I assume they are all on beatport.com though.

Trance :

One Tasty Morsel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B92L4Ilf-X4

Grouch - (couldn't find any youtube videos)

Shadow FX - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHyQE2IKX0k

Tetrameth - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWVo36iwPeo

Ghrey on earth - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEe1V2BDxYU

Parasence - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWpnBxkopjM

Psy Pox - (cant find anything)

Alot of the Trance/Psy Trance stuff sounds **** on the average computer - I suggest playing it through a nice system - otherwise trance is VERY hard to appreciate.

Caz-Wood
DJ Stellardream
I'll add more soon.

techno is a genre itself, with subgenres such as minimal techno and hard techno. genres like hardstyle and dubstep are not subgenres of techno. a blanket term for all electronic genres is EDM or electronic dance music. please don't use the word techno when you're referring to electronic music as a whole, it's inaccurate.

Everyone should look into IDM yo.

Aphex Twin
Boards of Canada
Autechre
Venetian Snares
Squarepusher
Telefon Tel Aviv
The Flashbulb
Plaid
Flying Lotus
Amon Tobin
Odd Nosdam
Nightmares on Wax

That should keep you busy for a while

Of course not much of it is techno. But whatever.
#8
what would be similar to Infected Mushroom? they're pretty much the only band I like in these kinds of genres, save the prodigy.

(just replying a to the one you gave me in the other thread that I forgot to acknowledge )

I love Electro and House music like Justice, Daft Punk, Bob Sinclair, Bodyrox, Felix Da Houscat, Soulwax, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim etc., something good to rave too.

Chemical Brothers live = Mind blowing

the style you should look for is psytrance. try artists like Astral Projection, GMS, Shpongle and 1200 Micrograms for an introduction into the genre.

The Bloody Beetroots - Rombo EP
Deadmau5 - Random Album Title
Deadmau5 - For Lack of a Better Name
Justice - Cross
M83 (they generally do electronic shoegaze, but dabble in dancy type stuff. A great band either way.)
Steve Aoki - Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles
Alice Deejay - Who Needs Guitars Anyway?
Crookers - Knobbers EP
Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles

The first four are must-haves.

Stuff like Headhunterz, Showtek, Patrick Bunton, Masif DJ's, etc.

Jackson RR5 ivory w/ EMG 81/85
Jackson DX6 w/ SD Distortion & Dimarzio Super Distortion
Fender Starcaster Sunburst

Johnson JT50 Mirage
Ibanez TS-9
Morley Bad Horsie 2

ISP Decimator

Squarepusher is really hit and miss but the best stuff is on Go Plastic.

I find that he's really hard to get into, and a lot of his stuff doesn't quite pull you in on the first listen the way stuff like AFX and Boards of Canada does... But once you're into it, it's addicting. He's a jazz bassist so his stuff is always influenced by that, and he has a very unique sound.

Justice - Cross

This.

On a DnB front:

People should check out Dom & Roland. He's been producing some of the best drum and bass around for over 12 years and I haven't heard anyone generate a vibe like him.

His album "Through The Looking Glass" is a personal favourite of mine.

Some good tunes by him:

Dom & Roland- Deckards Theme

Dom & Roland- Can't Punish Me

Dom & Roland- Moulin Rouge

He's also got a new LP coming out in November which is shaping up to be massive. He's posted 1-3 minute samples of a few of the songs here:

Cheers everyone.

I would like to contribute to this fine thread
I've got decent knowledge of trance, better than decent knowledge of UK hard trance, and some knowledge of house, hardstyle, and freeform.

I came in to ask for "IDM" like Aphex and Squarepusher, as it's the only electronic I listen to. Cheers for the list.

Anybody here into J-Tek? I'm looking for some mixes that aren't from Kranky (nothing against his mixes, I like them, but I need MOAR)?

Nine Inch Nails sometimes do very good electronic music!! Also if they're an Industrial project...
I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.
