Hey guys - I'm currently working on a Bruce Springsteen Telecaster replica. I've got most of the hardware, the body, the neck, I'm really just missing pickups. You may not have to know Bruce's tone to help me out, I'm open to all suggestions. Plainly put:

Bridge: 15.6k
Neck: 8.5k

I'd like to get something close to those values. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get a high output Neck from Lindy Fralin, but I don't really know about the bridge. I've thought about the Dimarzio Pre-B1 but I haven't heard them. I've also looked at the Seymour Duncan STL-2, but I don't know how good it would sound tapped, etc. I'm open to all suggestions, really, just no mini humbuckers. I don't want to lose that traditional tele tone. Some examples are below.

Last thing - Price isn't THAT much of an issue, however, I'd like to stay around 100$ or less. I'm open to all suggestions, but that's preferred.

Thanks for any help.

doesnt the boss have rail humbuckers in one of his guitars? you could check that out

In his a lot of his newer guitars he has Joe Barden pickups, however, they're not in "the guitar, which is the one I'm trying to replicate. He actually uses pickups made by Dr. Phil Petillo, a rather storied luthier/engineer/scientist. I contacted Petillo and the pickups were 180 bucks a pop and I just can't ink 360 in pups!

Bare Knuckle "Piledriver" Tele Pups: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZT-piledriver.html

I'd go with either of those sets. One obviously is more geared towards the tone you want, one is more geared towards the output you're looking for.

Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely considering the pile driver now. And I've seen The Boss tele pickups before and wondered if they really are inspired by Bruce's tone. I've never seen anything to confirm or deny it, though.

Anyone have some feedback on the Dimarzio Pre-B1?

I'm not actually positive if The Boss is inspired by Bruce, I'd just assume so. Why don't you email Tim at Bare Knuckle Pickups and ask him? And ask him what pickups he thinks would be best.
