Hello UG community

I've recently begun progressing into playing more heavy metal-based songs, and I've found my current setup doesn't quite cut the sound. I've been meaning to buy a new guitar for ages, but I've been afraid of making the wrong choice, so I've held back.
But now, the time has come to buy a new guitar! I was thinking of whether I should upgrade my amp or guitar though.
Essentially, my amp at the moment is a bass amplifier. It's a Warwick Blue Cap 15W and my guitar is Epiphone Les Paul Special II (basically the lower end of the Epiphone Les Paul series). I've heard that my guitar is capable of delivering a much better sound through a better amp - I tried it at my mates' house. But I've also heard that my type of Epiphone should be replaced when you start to get more intermediate.

tl;dr: replace cheap epiphone les paul or bass amp that's being used for guitar?

Could someone please help me out on deciding what to buy?

Which guitars would you recommend?

Which amp would you recommend?

My budget is around 540€
Current gear ::

Ibanez BTB205 // 5 string bass, active pickups
Epiphone LP Special II // Lower end Epiphone Les Paul
Warwick Blue Cab 15 // My bass amp, which I use for my guitar :P
Yamaha C40 // My mediocre classic acoustic

amp. always amp first imo, otherwise youre just buying a toy.
My Gear:
Gibson Faded Flying V
"Dante's Inferno" Iceman
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112
etc.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Which amp would you recommend I should buy?

I would say get a new amp first, look for something like a used peavey valveking or 6505, then if you have a decent amount of money left over, get a new set of pickups, or a new guitar if you can find one that cheap.

Valveking ≠ heavy metal
6505 is good, and don't upgrade pickups just yet, pickup upgrades are for perfecting tone, not radically changing it. I'd get a 6505+ (since the regular one has worse cleans) combo and save the rest.

Wow, this looks like a great amp! I might consider buying it. Just in case though, do you think this will work for the kind of music I play?

I play heavy metal, rock, sometimes classic rock and I also play blues (SRV influenced kind)

Also, you don't think there's anything in this caliber, only a bit cheaper?

Lastly, where did you get the info about when it's coming out?

Okay, I've decided to purchase this amp when it comes out.
So to get the facts right... This amp is good for most play styles. Is that correctly understood?

PEAVEY 6505 comes as a amp head and an amp combo. This new 1x12 version of the 6505 hasn't came out yet so it's hard to say what the tone will be like but going on the other models it will excel in metal and hard rock. Also, the features are pritty impressive too.

There is a link to a thread all about the 6505+ 112 here...
