The BC Rich ASM that I had my eye on is no longer in my price range (bit the bullet on a new bicycle) and am looking for a good guitar for shred.
requirements are
strat/superstrat body shape
22-24 frets (preferably 24)
FR
cheap

I've been scouring the ebay stuff that suits my fancy, and am really considering getting a Heartfield Talon. Are there any particular models that I should look out for in this search?

What's your budget?

somewhere around 200-250, more things to consider, I have relatively small hands.

Get a better amp first.

I'm quite happy with my VJ right now. If you have something to suggest, in its place, I'm all ears.

What's wrong with Valve Jr.?

TS, personally, I wouldn't trust the Floyd on a $250 guitar

With that in mind, some crazy shredding has happened on Epiphone Wilshires.

I would look into kramers, and 80s Charvel models can be found on ebay pretty cheap. Obviously not the higher end ones but still.

Look at some of the lower end ESP's. My MH-103 cost me $300, quilted maple top with basswood body and a floyd. Plays really nice. I love it! Stock pickups are good enough that I haven't replaced them yet.

I know they have some cheaper. Definitely look at ESP.
