There's a half-stack actually located in my town for $385 or so, so I was quite interested in it. What would you describe the overall tone of Hartkes as? I prefer transparency as opposed to coloring, generally.

Harke amps are unbelievably versatile amps I can almost guarantee you'll get the tone you want from it. They are definately transparent amps.

I personally love my hartke LH500 halfstack

this, they're fantastic amps. Cheap and sound great. That's all I use except for my newest bass head. But I'm saving for a 3500HA

Amazingly transparent. I'm not generally a fan of transparent amps, but there's a Hartke combo at the studio I just adore. My Stingray sounds very lush through it.
