Not 100% this is in the best forum, but i wasn't sure.

I want to get a mic setup so i can play and sing through an amp.
I want to do it on a budget, so i was wondering what the best type of mics are for in house use.
Any particular features i should be looking for? Or brands?

Ebay has a LOT of mics, however i have no way of telling suitable ones apart from karaoke style ones.

cheers!

If you don't want an interface, you could always go for a usb mic like the blue snowball. But other than that, the shure sm57 seems like a good budget mic.

No.

SM57's are pretty much the dog's bollocks of mics. At least, that's what people preach. I'm a cheap mic fanatic, and I use them pretty much always at my gigs. No complaints, solid construction and usually you can't tell the difference.

Unless you're recording and sending to the masses, don't go for SM57's or Sm58's, they're just, not necessary.

I use JTS TM-929, and they rule. You probably won't be able to get them, though.

God, there was nothing remotely productive in that.

Sorry.

edit:

http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/502.aspx I'd get that as a mixer

Sweet. I use them a bunch at all my gigs, and they're built like bricks and are pretty good quality also. Are you looking to get a pre-amp or mini-mixer also?

If you order one, let me know what you think of it.

Mwhaha... (has found an excuse to post pics of my mics in use)
