Pit, I don't often come to you for help, but this is important.

The other day, I cam to the computer to find it frozen. The screen was strange and pixelated, and nothing would operate. So, after trying everything I could think of, I eventually just put the computer through a hard restart. After the computer restarted, I got a blue screen telling me that there was a problem with Windows and that I had to restart my computer again. Well, I tried that, and again, it told me to restart my computer.

The third time I restarted it, I just booted up my computer using the last known Wiondows configuration that worked, which is what I'm on now. The problem is, nothing is working except Internet Explorer and a few other programs. When I try opening Chrome, Firefox, iTunes, or even my "add/remove programs" list from the control panel, it gives me this warning: "(program) is not a valid win32 application.

I don't understand what is going on, to be honest. Can anyone provide a bit of help?

And the computer isn't letting me open up AVG for the reason above, so I can't scan for the virus (which I think it is).

It sounds like to me that you have a virus.
Since you can't open your anti-virus thing, it might be best to go to a computer technician.
A polar bear came to talk to me the other day....
...But then I realized...

this

worse case scenario is that you'll have to move all your important files to another computer and reformat the HDD then reinstall Windows, not as bad as it sounds and unlikely but posible

This is the same thing that happend to my other computer. That computer wasn't worth fixing. So I bought a new one (very nice) and it happend to me again. I took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and it costed me $300 to repair my computer. Ended up it was a virus.

Start it in safe mode and run your virus program, a malware program, and a spyware cleaner. If that doesn't fix it, format your C drive and reinstall windows.

Norton antivirus is the best thing to buy for preventing viruses. Expensive but worth it. But I would take it to a tech, they might just have to wipe your hard drive and reload your OP.

But a great way to prevent viruses is watch less porn.

Don't do this either, but I say it far less urgently. AVG and Avast! are much better and much freer.

I dont think it does, I've never had a virus using norton, so I think it works great. Its a hell of alot better than the standard windows anti-virus thing.

I've had 3 viruses with norton, and even for the price we payed for it, it still didn't protect the computer. It amazes me that you stick up for norton, which doesn't bother me, but i use AVG n something else n haven't had a virus in nearly a year and a half.

I guess i like using my mac more tho

When I was banned, I saw a guy in the FOTB who was there for telling someone to do this.

Anyways, try to get Malwarebytes. It will remove almost anything, and it's free.

OK, so I tried booting up in Safe Mode, and I tried opening up my anti-virus, and it gave me the same error. This virus means serious business, I guess.

Nope. To be honest, I don't do anything that might embarass me on there. All I ever did was listen to music, look up music theory lessons, and browse myspace and UG, plus the occassional game that I purchased. Thats mainly why I'm so suprised to have a virus

Yeah it sucks when your just chilling and not doing anything that comes close to a virus than your computer is gone to a tech for like 4 days. I hate viruses.

We had to reload our OS cos my little sister was playing around with the boot menu at the start up. Damb 9 year olds.

Norton AntiVirus? What a joke. It's better to get a virus than use that. Use ESET NOD32. Run windows in safe mode and use an anti-virus program. If that doesn't work try System Restore. If not, then reformat.

His tried, but i think he should cease all attempts at trying to do it himself. Which i'm certain he has. As for norton.. Yeah....

I actually can't offer serious advice other than if it's unstoppable, try to load all important files onto an external drive and then wipe and reinstall the OS. Should work.

what's wrong with you all? why pretend you know what you're talking about when you quite clearly don't. I said on the first ****ing page, this is more than likely a problem with your registry, not a virus. Get a registry fixer.
