Hey guys, I have a Peavey Raptor EXP Plus. Im not happy with the tone it puts out. Its kind of a flat response, too trebly (Sp?) also. I have messed around with the PU heights in the past. That really didnt fix the dull sounds.

the guitar is made from a cheap wood, agathis maybe? still has stock PU, 2 singles, one HB, one VOL, one TONE. Would changing CAP values get me anywhere? IE looking for Strat like tones. I havnt opened the guitar up yet, so, on this config, would there be one CAP on the Tone pot, and thats it? What if you were to have a different value CAP for each PU?

maybe this is all silly, maybe time for some new/cheap PU?

Thanks for the help!

no, the amp isnt the problem. its the guitar. playing lead notes, the guitar sounds OK. chords and rhythm on clean sound very dull. almost like the pickups are the problem.
