What tools are used in a Les Paul carved top? I was wondering how difficult it would be to make this shape......

Making the body shape, or do you just mean how to do the carve?

Well thats kinda an open ended question really.

Gibson do it on a CNC

but it can be done with chisels, rasps, planes, sanding disks and more probably.

I'm assuming the body shape is done by band-saw and was wondering how to create the carved top.

Thanks

As the illustrious Absent Mind said, it can be done in several ways.

Angle grinder and an abrasive wheel is a good one, if you are careful.

Look on Youtube for Ormsby Guitars, one of his shows him carving a top.

SkeetEdit: Here, carve starts at about 3:30 Ormsby Carve

Sounds difficult but thanks for letting me know.

A CNC is 'computer numerican controlled' device, e.g a router mounted on accurate motors, which is moved by a computer program up down left and right foward and backwards to do very precises routing of guitar bodies.
