Howdy guys, just wondering what a good first time tube amp would be. Im looking for an amp head, 100 watts, and Im mainly going to be using a digital effects processor with it (not sure if thats important but Im throwing it in there) Preferablly under $1000. So basically, a tube amp head thats good for pumping out effects. Any suggestions?

Not sure about tubes too much, but love your Avy. I've also been looking for a nice tube, so this thread's gonna help meh.

Man, you seem to have to read more.
FIRST, 100W all tube is WAY TOO LOUD.
You can do big gigs with 30w...
Another thing... buying a tube for use with digital processor is pure crap.
Don't go for the vypyr.

Tell us more about your sound, stuff like 'do you gig'...
You'd better off getting a peavy classic 30 and getting some analogs.

Well ive gotten my own sound thanks to my zoom g7.1 that ive grown heavily fond of, i guess the best description is an amp thats really good at accurately transitioning my pedal for an obviously louder sound. My xxl is nice, but like all solid states it tends to break up at louder volumes. Ive heard tube is much better for handling high volume. I appreciate all the input, btw. Just still not sure what to roll with

GuitarUser is right.

Even with a full Jazz Band (Bassist, drummer, three trumpets, three trombones, piano, three flutes and five saxes) I don't need to turn my Crate V50 over about 6 or 7.

What you probably want is a simple one, NOTHING near 100W unless you're doing massive gigs.

It's everywhere on this forum, wattage does not equal volume.

If you're fond of effects, maybe look into a Line 6 Vetta? It's not tube, the but the thing still sounds bloody fantastic.

Are you gigging? You may be better off running your board into the PA or getting a dedicated tube power amp.
