I can't wrap my head around it actually sounding like that.

That sounds fabulous.

Doesn't sound bad. My biggest problem with the MG is the lack of dynamics and the fact that rolling back your volume and tone knobs does very little. It seems they may have changed the volume knob problem at least.

there's still not a lot of dynamics but it's a lot better then it used to be.

That is definitely not Rob Chappers

it is.

he said in his other thread that he was also shocked that the MG sounds like this.

Dear god, what an improvement....

If I played Metal or Hard Rock a lot, I would certainly get one.

First off, the MG series has never been as horrible as people make them out to be - they are just overpriced for what they are.

Second, I'm sure there was some post production EQing done to that video as well.
#16
The one in the vid actually does have crushing overdrive

I played one of these new MGs a few weeks ago at GC. They're a lot better than the old ones. I don't know if I'd buy one considering the rig I have now, but I think this is what the MG should have been all along - a decent beginner amp.

I am thoroughly Impressed. Another great vid by Chappers.
If you start a reply with: I have never played one but I have heard good things about it! Your opinion is invalid.
#24
The new ones are definitely an improvement over the old ones...but you can still do better for the money. I own an MG, and actually gigged with it before I got my current rig. The clean channel is usable, I just bypassed the OD channels altogether and used a stompbox for dirty stuff. The new amps definitely have a better OD tone.

I'd also like to point out that theres an sm57 being used instead of the camera mic he uses that gets washed out too quick.
