tell me about them

they sound pretty tight from the sound clips, and people on hc are always praising them.

how versatile can they get?

You'd probably be better off asking on HC. The only person I know who has one here is (I think) kayman.

The Titan is a beast, but it has WAYYYY too much gain for me....its like....a 5150 and a VHT mixed...but with more gain than both combined..... the thing sounded br00talz for death metal and like "real" metal...but for a metalcore/hardcore kid like me....it was way too much.....its actually on its way to a forumite right now.....
I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

I don't have it anymore (sold it and the invader), but it was sick. RETARDED amounts of gain, VERY saturated, and just sounded so god damn pissed off. It was a bit too focused sounded for me, not enough spongy "wall of sound" type thing going, but usually most people try to go for ripping aggressiveness, which the Titan has in spades. The contour knob was also sick. So many tone shaping options just to be had with that one little knob.

I don't have any GAS in the short term for any other amp after I got that Herbert. Everything I have ever looked for in tones I like manifest in the Herbert. But it'd be crazy to stop there Next up is an amp to run it in stereo with. Bogner Uberschall Twin Jet or Peters Chimera sometime next summer.

thanks for the review guys! yeah, i think the heaviest thing I play is probably btbam's stuff. Is the amp versatile at all?

it does sound like the amp can get a little gritty and sharp sounding, but how easy is it to smoothen the sound? I like to have my leads more on the smoother side of things.

Not bad at all

The amp is versatile as all hell. The clean is similar to an old blackface fender, and the crunch can be anything from texas style to full on JCM800.....the OD channel goes from there to nuclear.
I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

Those clips didn't sound 'that' heavy to me

I've heard plenty of FastRedPonyCar's stuff.

I trust Brendan and kayman though.

Maybe there are better clips on the Titan site.

If I remember correctly, the FRPC's second demo got pretty heavy at times...

Zach just posted a video of the 3-channel prototype on HCAF and maplifiers...should check it out...goes through the full spectrum of the amps sounds.

do you know how different the 2 channel one is from the 3 channel titan? and yeah i'm starting to realize that these amps are incredibly focused sounding. is there any way to get them sounding a bit looser? i wunna be able to play mah marshall stawf too

i think i may end up purchasing it though.

few more questions, is there a way to eq out the highs and shrillness? I've noticed that the amp seems to peak a lot in terms of treble.

Not true. He does not mix the amps at all. In one of his clips, he does SWITCH to the Nitro, but never mixes them. At one point in the first clip he switches cabs, but not amps.

The Titan IS very focused sounding, however can get a looser low end on it with the addition of the contour feature....

Also, the 2 channel shares EQ between the channels, whereas the 3 channel does not. As far as I know...so far...this is the only difference.

as well, the shrillness and treble you are hearing can be caused by the mic being far away in some of the clips, as well as it could just be the way it is dialed in. I sometimes had a hard time getting rid of some of the mids on this amp...it is so present and middy that it cuts through anything...overtop of any amp I've ever heard...only downside is that if you want to play some deeper stuff like metalcore or nu-metal stuff and want some looser sounding low end...it is almost impossible to do....which is why i sold it....it just wasnt for me or my genre...
