A modeling amp will you pretty much any sound you want, the Vypyr is one of the best on the market.

That would be quite versatile actually. The Vypyr is good if you want to be able to pull off a lot of sounds.

That's crazy awesome that the 3 tone sunburst is only $499! When did they drop the price on those?!

It's pretty much impossible to get a strat sound (if that's the Clapton era you're going for) with a HH guitar, but that will be a very versatile setup. A lot of people would recommend getting a true tube amp though.

actually im pretty sure that this model has coil spitting aswell

yea the coil split is great but not perfect. the split '59 does do great cleans though, but the classic single coil strat sound is best acheived by only a strat with a single coil. But, having said that, the Classic is one of the more versatile HH guitars out there if you want a superstrat shape, coil split, and a hardtail.

EDIT: holy crap...$500 bucks new? That's an insane deal that you would be silly not to grab.
Schecter C-1 Classic Raven RG20 + Digitech RP50

Man, I could go for a 7 right now...
