Do you think that your instrument defines you, or that you're similar to the instrument that you play?

ex. I dated a pianist and a guitarist. The pianist was fun and caring but the guitarist was more fun, more caring, passionate and multi-faceted. It seemed to me that they were both shared the characteristics of the instruments they played.
Thoughts?

Not everyone who plays guitar has the same character.
Also: How is a piano caring?

I will stand by all this drinking if it helps me through these days,
It takes a long time just to get this all straight.

Well, they're both musical. I think music is like healing/reviving etc. In a person it'd translate to caring. And I don't mean everyone that plays a certain instrument is the exact same as everyone else who plays that instrument, just that maybe there were similar characteristics among all guitarists/pianists/drummers/bassists etc.

Guitarists try ever so desperately to get laid, that'll have to do.

Yeah, you're kinda right, but I also think that depends of the genre they play.

you normally find that the instrument someone plays, performance wise, affects their personality. E.G.
Lead vocals; usually more talkative, confident.
Guitar; ranges between brash to quiet-all depends on what they play position wise.
Bass; usually a joker, can be aggressive.
Keys/Piano; Quieter than everyone else...

So on so forth.

See, that's what I meant.

Or it could be that those certain types of people are more likely to pick up those instruments.

Your instrument could be defined by you.

I think there is a connection. It's sort of like that whole, you get a dog that's like you type of thing. I know I'll probably never own a V or an Explorer or something crazy because that's just not who I am, I don't like to attract attention that way.

It seems to make sense to a point. It makes sense to me anyway.

I know I'll never own a guitar that isn't a Fender, what does that make me?
