I am curious as to if it is possible to convert my Squier SSS strat to a HH. I just want to make sure if it is possible so I dont waste my time and effort. So if anyone out here has done this before or knows of any tips, please let me know

Yeah, there are a few threads on this.

basically just route out the spaces for the pups to fit single coils.

I made my old SSS squier into an HSSH monster, so it's possible. The word you were looking for is practical. It's not a hard procedure if you can read a ruler and work a router.

On some squiers and strats(Damn... forgot which country routs them which way) but, one of the routing styles on a strat or squire has it pre-routed for a humbucker in the bridge.(Sorry if I'm wrong)

My Quick Question: Wouldn't all strats be routed like that? 'Cause the bridge pup is on a(Where's a protractor when you need one?) angle. Do they rout it with the angle, or just do a humbucker rout?

On MIAs, they rout the slot just large enough to fit the pickup in on that angle. On MIMs, they're routed HSH, on cheaper Squiers, they're either HSH, HHH, or swimming pool routed.

yeah. usually they suck but I got a good 'ern. she's been to hell and back and has still served me well. I've played tons of Fenders and I still prefer that Squier.

Lucky break. My MIM needs a re-wire badly.

Ah, he got his answer (I think)

Just buy a really cheap tele knockoff off Rondo, beat the living hell out of it, then fix it.

I converted my squire from SSS to HH by simply swapping for a different pickguard w 2 humbuckers. No routing or drilling involved. My MIA strat the neck pickup was only routed for a single to fit.

I think the soapbar one is an ancient homemade one too. You should ssee the wiring diagram for it.

There isn't one. Jim's kinda weird like that. He puts a ****load of work in all his guitars, but no one ever knows exactly how much.

yeah, Jim never really makes threads about his own work. Like the ceramicasters, fvcking epic. HE is more concerned with helping out other people, ie: wiring thread. Thats why Jim has had 2 epic threads devoted to him.

Yeah, there's a reason he got his name green and has had both Chat threads named after him.

This is starting to remind me of the Old Jim Thread.
