I am trying to learn a song, and can't get this chord down, is there an easier way to play it or an alternative way?

F

e -x-|---|---|---|---|
B -x-|---|---|---|---|
G ---|-x-|---|---|---|
D ---|---|-x-|---|---|
A ---|---|-x-|---|---|
E -x-|---|---|---|---|

Obviously I am a beginner so thanks for any help!

You could play the F like this:
1
1
2
3
x
x
But that can be a bit awkward for beginners as well.

Well usually you would barre your first finger across the first fret for that kind of chord, but there are a few things you could do here instead.

First off you could just play an F powerchord:

e ---|---|---|---|---|
B ---|---|---|---|---|
G ---|---|---|---|---|
D ---|---|-x-|---|---|
A ---|---|-x-|---|---|
E -x-|---|---|---|---|

Or you could put down your middle finger too to make this chord:

e ---|---|---|---|---|
B ---|---|---|---|---|
G ---|-x-|---|---|---|
D ---|---|-x-|---|---|
A ---|---|-x-|---|---|
E -x-|---|---|---|---|
(This is what I used to do at your sort of stage when I couldn't barre very well.

Or you could just miss out the low F and barre the top two strings instead like this:

e -x-|---|---|---|---|
B -x-|---|---|---|---|
G ---|-x-|---|---|---|
D ---|---|-x-|---|---|
A ---|---|-x-|---|---|
E ---|---|---|---|---|

Hope that helps =]

Thank you so much, I finally got it, where I barre the first fret but it mutes the b string, but both e strings are first fret, and then I get the a,d,g strings correct, so I have the whole original chord minus the b string but better than nothing I suppose.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. Bass players never need these hard of finger placements, THANK GOD! haha

that basic F is usually the first barre every guitarist learns. So practice it alot, so you will strengthen your first finger with it.
It's normal that your finger isn't strong enough to get it perfect right away.
Just practice enough and try to get it as clean as possible!

I dont think it should be the basic F haha. Maybe like basic if you are amazing F chord! that works for me.
