Hey, I just finished learning this song, took me quite some time and I'd love having feedback, constructive criticism on it!
The unison wasn't perfect and would require a bit more practice, I know, but I'd like to know what you guys think about the rest, the whole song.

wtf dude you really impressed me oO

awesome mad picking

but ...

seems to me that you are anchoring, I mean, you lend your fingers on the guitar body when you pick fast, creating unnecessary tension, thats a bad thing!!!

other than that ... awezome! ^^

what do you think about my Iron Maiden cover?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!!

@Gacel: Anchoring isn't a problem, I learned that way and I won't restart all over just because I'm anchoring.
Petrucci anchors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLn5g5qIb2k
Loomis anchors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXW5ryaaYm4
Jani Liimatainen anchors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz3hpwKTB3I
etc.

Wow... This is... Very good.

The only thing I could point to you... Strengthen up that pinky! Try and use it more often, because that'll pay off in the long run.

About the anchoring... Yeah dude, fix it up. I've never heard of anyone anchoring to learn a song, only the opposite. It takes so much tension off your hand and you'll become such a better player than you already are. Don't use the excuse of 'x famous guitarist anchors' as an excuse for you. You aren't 'starting' over again, just change gradually.

Start off with your normal exercises and do it for even 5 minutes without anchoring each day, then just increase increase increase until it's gone. It's helped me and gave me so many benefits, I urge you to do the same.

Other than that, great video

Thanks a lot for the comment I appreciate it.
As for the pinky, I know, I've been told quite a few times, but there are licks that I prefer using my ring finger as it is more accurate and powerful, but I'm working on it :P!

As for the anchoring, I'm not using any excuse for myself. I anchor when I play and always will. Learned that way, will finish the job that way.
I already tried not anchoring, but I can't seem to riff properly when I need some palm mutes and everything, and also well I don't shred as good.

And as for the tension that it creates, it's not THAT bad as some would think.
So again, I appreciate on trying to "fix" this but it's not necessary. (Don't take it as an offense).

Thanks again!

Loved listening to it, it's my favorite Dream Theater song and thanks for commenting on my In Flames cover.
I see you're from Montreal too ?

Very good playing, flawless! I liked the guitar tone too. I think you gotta improve your vibrations, you gotta give the notes a wide vibrato :P 9.5/10

Amazing job man, the tone was amazing and everything was really good, the harmonizing at 8:13 wasn't that bad too, needs a tad bit of work but it was definitely good..
Thanks for the crit on my Wintersun cover..

Solid playing. I don't listen to much Dream Theater so I wouldn't know if you are making mistakes or not. But to my ears it sounds good. I'm also digging the hat =)

Haaaaa Dream Theater, I saw them at Hellfest 2009, not a fan but their guitar playing is terrible

I greatly appreciate your dexterity with the left hand is fluid, I'm jealous of your speed
The last minute of the song is amazing

GREAT Job man
