So pit, me and my friend were discussing this earlier, are there any good books that you think would be good as a film? We came to the conclusion that it usually fails. But what does the pit think?

Or is there so little intelligence that no one has heard of a "book"

I have 3 trilogies that should be made into film trilogies. One's about Ceaser, one's about Alexander the Great and ones about Ghengis Khan. They were awesome books to read.

Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series. With someone like Peter Jackson behind it, if he approached it the same way he did LOTR...could be amazing.

But with the record of King's books being converted to movies....I wouldn't trust it.

They made a movie a while ago, but it was nothing like the story, and pretty crappy.

It's gonna be in the works when Lost is done with, because J.J. Abrams bought the movie rights for $19.00. I believe, due to length they'll be doing it as a high budget television series which I think would be better than movies simply because they are such long books.

i see where you're coming from, but you need to consider movies like The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, those are two of the best movies i have ever seen
as long as it gets a good director and producer it should turn out great

White Noise by Don DeLillo would make a great film. In fact, they tried making one a long time ago, but it went through development hell and never was made.

But it's just one of those novels that you can tell would make a great film.

Hence I didn't say all of them, smartass.

I just said the overall record is poor, but if the movies were to be given a big budget and a quality director....The Dark Tower series could be one of the best cinematic experiences man has ever known

I just don't see movies being as good. Movies don't have near as much screen time as a TV show. People will follow several seasons of a TV show longer than they'll follow movies. With a movie the quality will be forced to decline because the books get longer and longer. They'd have to rape the entire series with movies. Look at Harry Potter, the first ones were better than the latter ones due to the latter ones being much longer.

Good point. What if they made the tv series, but they simultaneously released the series on
DVD so I wouldn't have to wait a whole week in between episodes.

You could wait until the end of each season to buy DVD's? It's also not as if I'm in control of it so I don't see why you're asking me.
