It is the ESP Eclipse II FR.

Also if I were to get it..would it be suitable for other genres such as RHCP?

And if you have better suggestions for a metal guitar that would be great too!
I would just like to know how good this one is because I really like the way it
looks and my friend has played it and says it is pretty good.

But yes, if you have suggestions for a better metal guitar make sure it has a FR.

Thanks!

With the active pickups its more aimed to the metal genre but with the right amp and settings you should be able to get RHCP-like sounds. When you want a FR guitar similiar to the eclipse, for lead guitar reasons i take, id get the ESP horizon. Better upper fret access and, in my eyes, just a better fit for lead guitar :p.

any guitar is good for metal now a days. Jim Root of Slipknot plays a telecaster with EMGs, and Adam of KSE plays a Parker guitar with EMGs. Personally i wouldnt choose those guitars, for me they're too light weight.

But yeah....ESP/LTD make nice metal guitars....i agree with Rebl, dont choose a Les Paul shape, you want more fret access

EMG's are good pickups for METAL.
And I would definitly choose the Les Paul body because the amount of wood offers great tone to your instrument (darker and warmer).

Any guitar can play what ever style, It just depends on the amp and what effects/ pedals you have. I suggest you pick out a guitar based on if you are planing to play lead or rhythm or both you will want better lower fret access and not too fat of a neck for metal even for RHCP stuff. But in the end it will depend on what feels great to you.

Pretty much anything with the ESP/LTD stamp on it is geared for the heavier side of things. I've played one genuine ESP Eclipse and it blew my mind. One of the coolest guitar's I've ever handled. To be honest I'd take one over a Gibson any day of the week.

Gibsons are overpriced. And the ESP provides equal or even superior quality in some cases for much less money.

All aboard the bandwagon!

Although I agree with the ESP>Gibson qualitywise.

A guitar doen't make something metal.

What you play and the tone you produce via amp settings makes something "metal"

If I play Slayer on my buds hollow body its still metal.

So just get any guitar you like.

So you're complaining about bandwagon jumping, while bandwagon jumping?

The Eclipse should do fine for RHCP esque stuff, but at the same time there will definitely be more versatile guitars in that price range since you're talking in the mid £1000 area. Are you willing to go used?
