I'm thinking about putting a GFS Neovin active preamp into my guitar. Anybody used these/Know of a better one (no routing please)/know of a reason I shouldn't install it?

emg afterburner

no reason not to put one in. all it does is take up a pot space.

Am I going to have to drill another hole for that, or can I just replace my volume pot?

Should just drop in the spot where the volume pot used to be. It's just a push/pull pot with a little circuit board attached to it.

Just for the sake of options, EMG has a gain booster switch that you can install. I like the design of the afterburner better, but it's worth giving a look. It's a few dollars cheaper as well.

Check it out

Glad to help a little though, good luck with your project.
