I'm building my own superstrat style guitar from some parts I have and I'm using a Dimarzio super distortion. It only has a volume knob. And recommendations for impedance to get maximum punch out of this thing?

You want to strap a bunch of used mattresses to the walls?

Why not just roll around naked in medical waste while you're at it?

Usually a 500K is used with humbuckers, but I like 1Meg's for the extra brightness. This might come off as 'punch' if you use it right.

EDIT: I realise I didn't really answer the question at all. :/ Pots won't give you more punch, its how you use them and with what EQ.

Define "punch".

Any pot is going to impact things at least a little, lower impedances will knock a little off the top end. To some people, less top end seems to accentuate a particular midrange that they like.

You could always run with no pot just to see if you like it.

Yeah I actually thought about that at one point, but I like having a volume knob.
