About to buy 1 album from him, and up to 3 singles from him not on that album. Any suggestions? I want his best album, preferably no compilations. Trying to get into him but not enough money to buy more than one album really.

I've always felt that eric johnson has a few really good pieces, and I'm a huge fan of his live blues improvisations with G3, but I literally cannot stand his album work.

Yeah, Ah Via Musicom is probably the most solid album of his.
I Would have to mostly agree with SlinkyBlue, that style of music gets on my nerves when it's all I'm listening to, but I really love just listening to Cliffs Of Dover every now and then.

he has only done like 3 albums in 20 years!

venus isle is very nice. very positive music and uplifting.

I only liked a few songs from him, like Zap or Cliffs of Dover. But his solo stuff really isn't that great. He's really only good in my opinion when he's playing Hendrix covers at G3 or something
#11
Yeah I don't think he has enough solid material to warrant buying an album dude
it's pretty cheesy stuff

I personally like Venus Isle a lot more than Ah Via Musicom.

TS, I suggest you get the album Venus Isle, and then get the songs Cliffs of Dover and Desert Rose.
