In this unsteady time of musical blandness, where artistic integrity and musical craftsmanship has been so overrun by commercialism and trendy pop superficiality that more fans find themselves reaching for their old vinyl than for the new releases, there comes a time when…well, I'm not quite sure where I'm going with that, but listen close, kids, because it's time to slap on a skinny tie and pork pie hat and dance your ass off because the Cherry Poppin' Daddies are back in business.

In celebration of the band’s 20th year of horn-heavy, dance-centric and genre-bending musical madness, Eugene, Oregon’s Cherry Poppin' Daddies are struttin' their checkered platform boots back onto the dance floor with two new albums, hitting store shelves on September 29th, courtesy of Rock Ridge Music.

Over a decade in the making, "Skaboy JFK: The Skankin' Hits of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies" is a showcase of the group's lesser-known ska side, compiling several new recordings with a selection of older Daddies ska songs in a collection that comes off like a classic of the genre. Reflecting all waves and varieties of ska music - traditional, reggae, 2 Tone, third wave, ska punk…and what the hell, throw in a little bit of funk and punk rock while you’re at it - "Skaboy JFK" has manic energy to spare, enough to leave the punks pogoing on the dance floor, the hepcats swinging in the corners and a smile on the face of any veteran rude boy.

Tagging along for "Skaboy"'s national release is the band's fifth studio album, "Susquehanna". Doing what the Daddies do best, encompassing a mélange of genres under narrative lyricism, "Susquehanna" plays like a Kerouacian road trip through the American southwest: Latin Rock. Flamenco. Rockabilly. Ska. Swing. Reggae. Glam. An experiment in both hip-shaking rhythms and cathartic storytelling, "Susquehanna" is like nothing you've ever heard. Then again, it wouldn't be a Cherry Poppin' Daddies record if it was.

Both "Skaboy JFK" and "Susquehanna" are available for purchase or download on the Daddies' official website, iTunes and Amazon.

Well, *heartfelt* grassroots advertising, at least. I'm no robot.
