So here's the story. I moved to Las Vegas to work for 6 months and left a girl here that I really liked and before I left we some things had happened and I figured when I came back we'd be able to work everything out and it'd be just fine. But I never got the chance. She got engaged a month before I came back and so this is about my first couple days back and the very unexpected September snowfall that seemed to fit the situation very well.

Snowing in September

I came home from the desert to a city swirled up in storm
A far cry from the summer and the sky that kept me warm
Upon arrival I felt transformed like fall leaves when seasons change
I left knowing things would be different, but hoping they’d stay the same
And vision becomes blurry after months without the rain

But now it’s snowing in September
Setting me up for the shortest fall
That I can ever remember
This winter I’ll win her or lose it all

I stayed indoors all morning, just listening to the wind blow
As the beauty and the rage unfolded right outside my window
The night before I had stood outside the door, no hint of rain
I went inside and realized that in time nothing stays the same
And the seasons aren’t the only ones who change

And now it’s snowing in September
Setting me up for the shortest fall
That I can ever remember
This winter I’ll win her or lose it all

And as the temperatures drop
Prematurely like the moment my heart stopped
And yours simply skipped a beat, and latched onto his
While mine lies at your feet
And the bells are ringing
The choir is singing
And I’m dreaming, just praying I can stay asleep

And it’s snowing in September
The calendar is about to fall
Thought if I could get through December
This winter I’d win her back, but I lost it all
