Buy a new guitar for the occasion, have ozzy sign it, sell it on Ebay for huge profit.

Get something that'll eat the finish.

Lightly dab it over the signature.

It'll eat away at the finish around it and leave the signature.

Don't do this though. It's a BAAAAAD idea.

Why don't you just have him sign the pick guard, and then buy a new pickguard to put on your guitar? Or vice versa.
#15
Spray some clearcoat over it.

Well then don't use your best guitar.

Use one that you can let sit and not play.

There isn’t really much you can do within the realm of practicality. Most new guitars are finished in some type of catalytically hardened finish, usually a urethane; nothing is going to permanently stick to it. Thus the signature will eventually wear off.

If you are dead set to do what you want, you must disassemble the guitar, and sand the surface, with something above a 500 grit paper…. Then have him sign the rough surface. Also make a mark or two where it will not be seen when the guitar is reassembled.

Once back at the shop.. take small sample of whatever you are going to clear coat it with.. and test it on the sample spots to be certain the coating will not melt the marker. If good, spray a very fine mist coat,. An allow to dry, repeat several times over the next few days, once the signature is completely sealed, apply a few final wet coats, allow to dry/harden for a month, wet sand with 600 then 1500 wet or dry, then polish…

From another forum.

Make him? The hard part is STOPPING him from signing it in blood.

HA!

maybe get a clear window cling and put it over it? (window clings do stick to guitars, i put them on mine when i want to decorate and not be permanent)

buy a new guitar and put it in a case? its basically an investment, hes not going to be around much longer....id suggest a randy rhoads or iommi sig.

Hairspray.
I **** you not. My friends has a tele which he painted and wrote on and stuff. Then afterwards he sprayed hairspray on it. This was two years ago and it's still there.

Or idea:
If your guitar is white, buy a white sticker and make him sign the sticker.

Have him sign it on the trem cover on the back.

Then take it off. Easy as that.

just roughen up the clearcoat on it where yur gonna have him sign, then after he signs it, put clear coat back on. or you could just have him do so on a cheaper guitar.

Don't do that. Musicians hate that. Especially Jimmy Page. He was talking about how some people will just come up to him with a pickguard, asking him to sign it, so they can put it on a guitar and say "Guitar signed by Jimmy Page" on eBay. They even got their kids to do it so he would feel bad.

It's sickening
