I'm a big fan of New Standard tuning (Low string to High): C-G-D-A-E-G.

Its most commonly used by Robert Fripp and his "Crafty Guitarist" students- Tony Geballe, California Guitar Trio, and others.

You get expanded dynamic range, and some of the chord shapes are quite easy to deal with- easier than standard.

OTOH, some stuff you may be used to playing becomes incrementally more difficult. Standard blues type progressions involve a bit more stretching, for instance.

Make stuff up. Break rules. It's the quickest, most guaranteed way to find something new and original and not get caught up in the ways other people play.

B-F#-B-F#-B-D# is my new favorite. its just open D5 down 1 and a half steps. that D# is optional; you can just make it a B and it will sound slightly different than the 2nd string.

D-A-D-G-B-D or "double drop d". kinda fun

F-A-G-F-A-G but only if you swing that way

Meh, Im a C-Standard fan (C-F-Bb-Eb-G-C or C-F-A#-D#-G-C)

Oddly, I had problems tuning the flats, but tuning the sharps were easier.

CGCGGC is an epic tuning

It's cool for really ringing arpeggio runs and pedal note runs, plus the open chord id a 6 string powerchord which sounds really rather awesome and triumphant
