My friend wants me to teach him how to play guitar. I'm not very good at all but I'm willing to share the little bit I know. But I have no idea where to start. I forgot what I learnt first. Should I teach him easy chorded songs like "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and stuff like that or maybe songs with easy picking patterns? what do you recommend? Any help appreciated.

yeah dude, start with open chords and easy songs that use those chords (Leaving on a jet plane.. etc.)
maybe start on the bass-line fo something. Intro duce to him the concept of chords having root notes, then go onto a song. He will probably have trouble remembering what the first 5 fret notes are, let alone whole chord shapes.

But, i dunno. Sometimes people like shapes more. Spend your first lesson figuring out how he learns better.
