hey, um... the volume knob on my Guitar... well, fell off. How would I go about reattaching it? It's a telecaster style control setup.

get an allen key and unscrew the set screw from the knob, push the knob back on the pot and tighten the set screw back in.

Actually what happened was the set screw fell out when the knob fell off. Because there was no set screw anywhere to be found I couldn't understand how it stayed on in the first place. I had to find a replacement screw and reattach it with the replacement.

Dude, don't wanna go CSI all over your "story" , but if the pic posted was originally taken claiming the set screw fell out when the knob fell off, then why do I see the allen screw in the knob that is pictured in your fingers? It does look a bit backed out compaired to the one still attached to the guitar. The knob would have become loose long before the set screw fell out.
Just an observation...

Don't jump to conclusions chief, to me what you probably see as the grub screw looks like the inner bevel of the empty hole.

no what looks to be in that hole is a set screw
That’s how we’ll know. This is not a test, oh no

No, its a empty hole. What you see are the threads that are on the inside of the knob. You can see the screw in the other (attached) knob though. There was nothing in that hole. I don't see why it matters anymore, because I have long since managed to replaced the screw with a different screw of similar size, albeit it is not carbon black anymore.

TL;DR: It's fixed, why does it matter?

This. ^

This thread was over and done with at post 2. A thank you was given at post 3.
Finished business.

All this garbage about what fathers do or don't teach their sons and the presence absence of the setscrew is just that. Garbage. And trolling.

Any more similarly pointless posts on this thread will be reported.
It should have drifted down in the index a week ago.
It will drift down now, or heads will roll.

Slick move there, junior. I reported your post and had a Mod check for multi. Apparently I was right, you're banned. Not only is this account perma'd but you now will have a ban on your original account, too.

Yet you still come in the thread and chastise everyone in here knowing that you will bump it.

I know, I'm bumping this. I just wanted to know that I think you're a huge douchebag and that you should die.

Have a nice day.
